This week I am working on a set of custom wedding rings for clients in Colorado. They chose a design from the website (the Four Seasons ring) and asked to modify it to suit what they were looking for. The original design was engraved by hand under the microscope, but since they wanted to see a variety of options I re-created the ring using Rhino, the 3D software I make a lot of jewelry with. Here is the rendering for the final ring:
These is a picture of the wax that comes from the digital printer. You can see the spiral design is basically
laid out, and I will hand-engrave the final rings after they are cast and finished, to give them
a more defined cut, and a little bit of a 'hand-made' feel.

Wow - it's been a very busy couple of months! Several custom projects, special clients and jewelry consulting jobs using 3D Digital modeling (rhino) have been keeping me very busy. Most recently I completed a custom engagement ring from a 3D digital file provided by the client. He is an engineer and uses a different 3D software than I use, but with some coaching was able to create an interesting design that both he and his wife love. Click here to read more about this beautiful custom engagement ring.

What a wonderful day yesterday! Two new custom wedding jewelry clients - one for a set of wedding bands taking as the basis of one of the designs the Four Seasons Ring , and the other an engagement ring based on the Flower Ring (well, sort of - we started there, but it is rapidly turning into something completely new. With permission I will post images of both pieces in progress and when they are finalized. They are really wonderful designs - and one of them is very challenging, so I'm very excited!

Fed Ex came this morning with my most recent project for the large jewelry company. It is a design for a beautiful pave ring made with white gold and diamonds - I started working on it in Rhino (the 3D software I use to create some of my jewelry), but needed more specifics. Because it's a rush order, I'll be working on it all weekend. :-)
Also, arriving via fedex yesterday was one of the custom options I created for a TV show (fashion based) that was recorded last week and will be aired in the fall. Visit again for more information on when that will be visible.

I am working with several custom clients at the moment on a variety of custom engagement rings and custom wedding rings. One of the projects is a very interesting 'intertwined' ring design. The client wants the appearance of a snake eating it's own tail as the engagement ring, and wants the wedding band to fit into the design as well. The design that we have come up with so far is shown below. We are still working on the final shape of the snake head as well as how the bands will fit together (she will be wearing the engagement ring from now until the wedding next May (2009), after the honeymoon we will attach the wedding band and the two will fit together like puzzle pieces). The snake will also have eyes, created with green stones - either emerald or green diamonds - I would prefer to use the green diamonds as they are much harder and will hold up better over time.
